NRA (UK) membership is it worth getting?

I don't intend to shoot at Bisley but think NRA membership would add weight to applications etc.

One wonders now about NSRA membership too.........

As a Scots shooter, millions of miles from Bisley, with no intention of ever shooting there, is there any benefit to me??????????

As a Lancastrian I'm not far short of a million miles from Bisley but I want to support a voice that speaks for shooting. As mag41 says I'd be distraught if Bisley closed although I only get there twice a year.

Personally; I know that if my FAC was ever in danger I could call on the NRA to back me up.

I'm afraid the NRA voice never seems to be loud enough.
I am a member of BASC and feel they give a better service and are much more vocal in their support of shooting sports.

Is the NRA magazine, sorry journal, nice and glossy like the BASC magazine? How well supported by advertisers is the NRA journal? The latter should indicate something....

Its getting better IMHO. I think (but don't know) that the shotgun world is bigger and spends more money so that may account for its magazine being more polished.

Not really, especially as most of the best ranges are independent - But if you do use MOD ranges anywhere in the UK then membership definitely has it's benefits.....We (Dorset shooters) had serious access problems to an MOD range a couple of years ago, when Landmarc accused civvie shooters of setting fire (as we shot tighter groups!?) to the backstop (where they had changed the sand to rubber chippings )...anyway, the NRA were instrumental in getting us back on the range, and we havn't had a problem since

Please explain them to me, apart from them possibly being of help in that one particular case.

We used to use a Landmark/MOD range but the costs got too prohibitive.

With their licence fee, Range wardens fees (two for Scotland???), lane fees and not to mention their restrictions on civvy positional shooting on the ETR (Civvies never shot holes in passing pleasure boats :roll: .

What sort of restrications Andy?
One of my clubs regularly shoots on Ash ETR and we do it prone, kneeling, standing and "supported" in a fire trench.

We were restricted to Prone shooting only on the ETR.
