Looks like the old Remington XP100 that some of the long range pistol boys used to use, I dabbled with one in .303 for a wee while and they were capable of excellent accuracy when properly shot. I never got into it far enough to build my own "flying machine" but enjoyed myself immensely shooting it from the trench, off a sand bag out to 600yrds.

Long range pistol is still shot at Bisley with the NRA. Not sure if the International Long Range Pistol Shooting Association still exists, but they were the blokes that had shooting chairs/platforms nick names “Flying Machines”. An RFD local to me has one on the desk in his gunroom, but built on a Remy 700 action and chambered in .260 Rem.

One of the main problems is that this type of firearm and it is recognised in U.K. regulations as a long range pistol, are not approved for a Home Office and so have non of the exemptions associated with it, as with LBRs and s1 shotguns.
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?
