Re: Tell me about your custom Ruger 10/22
A bit late here, but my 10//22 started off as a standard model, I bought it from a mate back in the early 90's.
Since then its changed a bit, had various stocks, a new green mountain barrel, extended mag release, and most recently a Timney trigger that i won in a comp in the US..
The only original bits are the bolt and the reciever....

I have a standard 10/22 but with Volquartson trigger, ext mag release and bolt hold back. Fitted an el cheapo scope as it is only used 50m max. Everyone should have 10/22!!
I think we'll be seeing a 'Shed 10/22' model soon! All shiny!! Sunglasses at the ready!!

I managed to get a 2nd hand Rimfire magic, which after emailing them Shelia tells me is:
Green Mountain 16" black match tapered barrel in a Hogue stock, it has a un-named suppressor and Hawke variable power scope (can't remember what it is off the top of my head).
Rested I have managed to get a ragged hole at 20 yards.
Runs well on CCI Standard, only issue has been with some other ammo which was a lot dirtier and caused it to gum up.
I mostly have used it for off hand at 20 yards LWSR, had a fun day with BASC at Bisley where I used it on the running boar range.

Re: Tell me about your custom Ruger 10/22
John, I have been thinking of building a semi auto version of the M54S-430 .22LR tube rifle I built earlier this year. The current single shot is undoubtedly accurate and even at 100 yards I can shoot touching holes off a front squeeze bag. Downside is having to break position to load every round so I was considering machining a 10/22 receiver from round to accept a standard Shed back end and a front tub, plus 10/22 trigger and magazines which is actually not so difficult, plus I have the 10/22 receiver drawings. Such a rifle would suit me as I prefer heavier rifles however the Viking needs to shoot it so it made me think, just how accurate is a 10/22 anyway and what works well with regards to the custom parts.johngarnett wrote:I have a standard 10/22 but with Volquartson trigger, ext mag release and bolt hold back. So that is the plan, however it may just be a case of a tricky 10/22 which I can soon build to our taste and needs.
As an aside, I am just about to flute an 18" stainless bull barrel from a 10/22 as the owner is finding it heavy so weight does make a difference, even to the top chaps.

Super accuracy there CDM5, do you know what the trigger weight of the stage 2 trigger is?
