Sections of What???
This might seem silly, but I assure you it's legit. Very basic query - I notice, pretty constantly, lots of references to a "section 1" or a "section 5" or whatever.. so, my question is, Sections of What?? Obviously some Act of Parliament, but what's it called? (so I can further inform myself.... ) . Thanks. :)
Re: Sections of What???
Section 1 Are firearms for which a cerficate (fitness, background check and good reason ) is required to possess and buy rifles, shotguns (over 3 shots) long barrel pistols in 22 rim fire only or long barrel revolvers any caliber
Section 5 are firearms and weapons subject to general prohibition (banned ) and include but not limited to handguns and the even papper spray !

Re: Sections of What???
The section refers to the section of legislation for which the firearm is governed by.
Each needing a different "permission" or "certificate" to hold.
Section 5, whilst it may seem like it is banned, is not actually banned, but it requires a lot more paperwork and reasoning behind getting hold of a section 5 license. Certain Registered Firearms Dealers can be permitted to hold section 5 certificates, likewise, certain people can hold section 5 firearms in certain circumstances.

I know a bit of canuck law. ARs are restricted same as a pistol. However some semis like the tavor and kel tec su16 are under non restricted which take ar mags. Mags are generally restricted to 5 rounds. But 10 and 15 round mags are available using ar 15 pistol mags. Pistols having a 10 round limit. And for 15 use a 5 round 50 beowulf mag which can hold 15 rounds of 223. Restricted is only for range but non can be used on private land so its best to get the non restricted versions.joe wrote:How easy is it to get an ar-15 and with 30 round mag in Canada ???

The AR, pretty easy. The mag, impossible. Well, you can have the mag, put it's pinned (riveted) to 5 rounds (although there are some work-arounds involving pistol mags...). But that has nothing to do with my question.
But "Sections" of WHAT?? What is the Legislation called?? (so I can look it up & try & understand the regime)?joe wrote:Section 1 Are firearms for which a cerficate (fitness, background check and good reason ) is required to possess and buy rifles, shotguns (over 3 shots) long barrel pistols in 22 rim fire only or long barrel revolvers any caliber
